Science– Secondary
Science
Across Years 7–9, students develop their understanding of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Earth and Space Science through inquiry-based learning, practical investigations, and real-world applications.
In Year 7, students build foundational science skills through laboratory safety, fair testing, states of matter, separating mixtures, forces, simple machines, classification, ecosystems, space, and renewable and non-renewable resources.
In Year 8, students extend their knowledge through cells and body systems, energy and heat, electricity, plate tectonics, the rock cycle, elements and compounds, and physical and chemical changes. Practical activities such as microscopy, dissections, circuit building, rock investigations, and chemical reactions help students apply their learning.
In Year 9, students explore more complex scientific concepts including the nervous, immune and endocrine systems, genetics and evolution, electron configuration, chemical reactions, acids and bases, light and sound, and the Big Bang Theory.
Across all year levels, students strengthen their scientific inquiry, problem-solving, data analysis and communication skills while connecting scientific concepts to everyday life and contemporary issues.

We'd like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we work, meet, educate and communicate. In particular, the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the land, and pay our respect to their Elders past, present and emerging. We are truly grateful for this opportunity to share information with our community.
